Magpie Chorus from “The Builders” by Hilde Knorr

Those miners dig

through rock

and mud and rubble.

They dig up the valley

and they blast through the hills

and they bring up trouble.

They dig high fever

and years of pain

and what they find

they lose again

If you have a gift

to give to me

I’d rather the gold

from an orange tree.
