Morning and Evening by Gwendda McKay

I like the two ends of day,

the going out and the coming in of light,

the ending of day and the ending of night.

Each end is a beginning,

Gently the night moves back

and becomes somehow less black,

it’s cool

and still

and morning.

Night waits all day,

light wants to stay,

but at last birds noisily nest,

the air shivers,

the sky quivers to golden pin points,

it’s cool

and still

and evening.
