Epiphany by Dorothy Hewett

a day like this
both dark and bright
with cloud
loudness of water
and found words …

the sky no longer
at the top
nor the ground
under my feet
I am lifted up
into a shaft of light
pointed like a sword …

unknown island
neither night
nor day
but furious noise
luminous universe
between the black crags
and the running sea

this was the place.
